Synopsis of the Play- KHOOB MILAYI JODI
The Play Khoob Milayi Jodi is a Hindi adaptation of Brandon Thomas?s timeless classic ?CHARLEY?S AUNT? originally written in 1880?s. To make a communication between the Indian mindset, the play is adapted in Hindi according to the Indian Scenario. Nobody can deny that laughter is infectious and is a creativity of a present situation, which is to be done artistically to acquire a ?distinguished status?.
Many people say the road to young love is paved with many obstacles, an adage illustrated aptly through rib-tickling humor in the Hindi play Khoob Milayi Jodi. It also shows that love strikes us all ?the young and young?at-heart, and we can do anything for love, thus proving the adage ??all?s fair in love?!!!
A romantic comedy involving mistaken identities, the play revolves around a pair of Mumbai college students, Rajesh and his buddy Dinesh and their hare-brained scheme to marry the girls they love, Esha Singh and her cousin sister Nisha Singh respectively. A debonair and witty classmate, Sumit, a struggling actor at heart, is talked into impersonating a woman ? Dinesh?s Mausi (aunt), a rich diamond merchant from London and widow of Maharaj Shamsher Singh. The purpose of the charade is to have the aunt act as chaperone while the young men confess their love to the young ladies and propose marriage.
Since the ?real? aunt sends a last minute telegram saying she cannot make it, the young men are confident their plan is fool-proof! But, as always, complications abound! Rajesh?s uncle, Col Inder Mohan Dogra, a well-meaning but bankrupt retired colonel in the Indian army, is talked into contemplating marriage to the rich old aunt by his nephew Rajesh. The conservative and autocratic Raibahadur Hardayal Singh Bahl, father of Esha and uncle and guardian to Nisha, in hopes of marrying into wealth, also falls in love with the fake, slightly mannish-looking Maharani of Kandhapur. And ultimately, the real aunt shows up with Sumit?s heartthrob Sandhya in tow, and the fun and games begin in earnest. Finally the truth is revealed and ?all is well that ends well?. @9250149749
